Meet Kimberly R. Hill

Kimberly R. Hill is an intrapreneur always tapping into her entrepreneurial spirit to build innovative solutions that grow sales and market shares for top companies like Amazon. She has an innate ability to identify business opportunities that diversify corporate supply chains and create inclusive experiences for customers of color. A tenacious visionary with a heart for underserved communities, she has moved the needle in the technology space in tangible ways early in her career.

She is incredibly passionate about the intersection of business, entrepreneurship, social responsibility and helping others navigate their entrepreneurial spirit and career. Hill currently serves as a Business Development Manager for Amazon’s logistics division where she builds public, private and non-profit partnerships to recruit and launch entrepreneurs as part of the Delivery Service Partner program. Prior to this role, she was a Marketing Manager in Sub-Segment Growth Marketing. Born out of her desire to design a more inclusive ecosystem for Black consumers and entrepreneurs, she co-created Amazon’s Textures & Hues virtual storefront. This unique platform simplifies online shopping by seamlessly connecting customers with curly, coily and relaxed hair to beauty brands for textured hair care. The launch of Amazon’s Textures and Hues portal attracted widespread praise from consumers, influencers, internet celebrities and national media coverage in publications like Ebony, Eurweb, Allure, 21Ninety and Essence. Amazon CEO and Founder Jeff Bezos presented Hill with the “Just Do It Award” for her breakthrough idea. Only the top three percent of Amazon employees who, like Hill, exhibit extraordinary initiative, innovation and enterprise receive this much-coveted award.

Before creating Textures & Hues, she worked as an Amazon Strategic Account Manager, managing a portfolio of 100 accounts that generated annual sales revenue of up to $500 million. Known as a dynamic leader and a champion for representation, Hill is a board member of Amazon’s Black Employee Network (BEN), where she adds value by spearheading programming that showcases Black culture. She has also led national, companywide programming and events for inclusion and diversity, including implementing the company’s first Black History Month celebration.

At her core, Hill is an influential voice for intrapreneurship. She often touts the benefits of employees treating their roles like it’s their business and not just another 9-to-5 gig. Not only does this mindset affect the decisions made, but it also encourages employees to find more fulfillment at work and in life. She has shared her expertise with audiences at events like AfroTech and the Power Rising Conference and has spoken about her unique approach to leadership before executives at T-Mobile and Bank of America. Additionally, she has taught a class on intrapreneurship at the North Carolina Central University School of Business. As part of the World Natural Hair Healthy Lifestyle Event, she discussed her role in reimagining the online shopping experience for people of color during a “Power Panel.”

For her impact in business and community, The Puget Sound Business Journal selected her for its Top 40 Under 40 list. Not only is Hill an AmeriCorps alumna, but she has also served as a mentor with Year Up.

Originally from Arlington, Texas, Hill currently resides in Seattle. When she’s not working on the next big initiative, she enjoys photography, reading and spending time with family.
